   Thank God someone, after the hundreds of blog posts and responses, sees things the way I do…although, her punishment seems harsh, it is “up to 7 years” which means she can be released anytime before if she meets behavior requirements. I have a connection to this case that I cannot reveal..but I know that Shaquanda’s mother is to blame for this, she pulled the race card every time Shaquanda got in trouble, provoking more racial hatred of whites in the child.
   Furthermore, Paris is being painted as a town full of redneck white supremacists who are proud of our “hanging and burning negroes at the fairgrounds” past, and that angers me deeply. No one I have spoke to is even aware such a thing went on a hundred years ago, and we are certainly not proud of it!
   I hope Shaquanda gets released, many in the country are watching this.. and she cannot resort back to the behavior that got her there in the first place, she will be forced to live up to the expectations of those who have rallied for her, and that would be a great victory for the black race… for a young black person to be brought to justice fairly and surprise us all.

   I saw the Dr. Phil show regarding this situation and was astonished at the history of sentences given by Justice Superville. Neglectful homicide for a caucasian boy…and he received probation? Given the above case with Shaquanda, does the punishment fit the crime?

   He also noted other serious offenses by caucasian young people that received probation. Racism has never gone away, has only been covert for a little while. Now it is emerging back to the surface and Paris, Texas is at the forefront.

   The race card is brought up quite often in my home town as well which is Tyler Texas. I am white but have a black friend who lives in Paris Texas and he has never even mentioned any kind of racist issues that go on over there. I do believe that at times racist things happen in my town as with everywhere but what is often the case is what is known as angry black man syndrome. This is when an African American becomes angry at white people and lashes out in racial tension because he feels quite vulnerable in his minority position. I completely understand this feeling just like when I am in another country or cultural setting I too feel out of place. The issue is when you have such a chip on your shoulder that you feel the need to overreact to every single intensity that comes your way in an unfamiliar setting. I deal with it and I am sure everyone deals with this type of phenomenon but come on people regulate yourselves and get comfortable enough in the place you live not to resort to the race card every time you don’t get your way. This behavior makes it worse for everyone else.
